Great Ways To Organize Your Time!

juggling-ballsDo you have trouble finding ways to organize your time? It can be tricky to keep all the balls in he air at once! It can become a daunting task to deal with all he different things, people, tasks and responsibilities of each day of he week, not to mention an entire year!

Setting Daily Priorities Is A Must

Each day, you have choices. Choices of what to eat, what to drink, what to do, who to see, and how you will spend your time. Of course, we all have different responsibilities we need to take care of, but we really do have a choice! Many poor choices can cause us pain, sorrow, and a myriad of other horrible consequences; but we do have a choice.

We get to choose to try hard. We get to choose to be filled with joy (no matter our circumstances). We…get…to…choose. So…we need to choose wisely. We also need to prioritize our choices!  Ask yourself, “what do I need to accomplish today? What do I want to accomplish today?” The needs should come first; then the wants! We need to eat and drink. We need to have proper hygiene. We need to get proper rest. We need to have finances for living. We need a place to live, to stay warm and dry. What else do we need?

Then there are he wants. We want nicer clothes. We want to play sports. We want to watch a movie. We want to go on vacation. We want to buy a car. We want, we want, we want.

Everyone Is Different

prioritiesWe all have different priorities, so you need to figure out what is truly important to you, and what is best for your family. Discover what is he top “thing” in your life, that you are willing to sacrifice your time for. Because that is what it is. It’s a sacrifice to give your time for anything or anyone…because all of us have limited time.

Are relationships your priority? Your faith?  Time with family? Friends? Work? Many of us need to give a certain amount of time to earning and income. I get that. Our jobs need to be a top priority. Many people’s jobs look different as well. From working 8 hours or more, away from the home, to working inside the home, taking care of the family. All of the time in each person’s day, still needs to be managed properly, to be he most effective and efficient!

Balance Is The Key!key

Once you know what’s truly worthy of giving your time to, you will be able to organize your days. One of  the keys to keeping the chaos at bay, is to not over commit!

Just as in organizing any room of your home, there can’t be more “stuff” than you have space for. It’s  the same with your time. Try not to do more each day, than you have hours to accomplish your tasks! Balancing your time is key. Making enough time to get done what you need to do, and having time to do what you want to do.

Creating a balance by not trying to do everything, be everything and “doing it all,” will save you so much stress and anxiety. Saying no to certain people, tasks, activities and even fun…can save your day!

Life Can Be Unexpected

Life happens. We all have unexpected occurrences all the time. Things we didn’t want. Things we didn’t plan for. Happenings that take our time. Things that throw off our groove! So it’s really important to organize our time in a way to allow for some unexpected interruptions.

I realize we cannot plan for everything! Life can get messy in a moment, and spin completely out of our control. But…if we keep our daily scheduled time with some flexibility built in, we can accommodate most day to day, minor interruptions. I’m suggesting that we don’t continuously have every moment of every day so packed with duties and activities; that the slightest glitch in the schedule or bump in the road, throws us completely out of whack and sends us spinning into orbit!

Make A Listlist

Write a list of what you need to accomplish each day. Make a list of things you’d like to do, maybe for the week or month. Balance your time in a way that you can do the tasks that have to get done and add in activities you want to accomplish. Be sure to account for proper rest, time to refresh and precious time for relationships.

Our world tends to be a fast paced, hectic one. We need to be intentional in forming each day, to the best of our ability; to run smoothly, be organized, and have less stress. With so many things being out of our control each day, it’s wonderful to have great ways to organize your time!

  1. I love the “life is Unexpected” – as a working mother and wife, I completely relate to your description of how to start getting organized. Balance is the major hurdle for me – Regardless of efforts – it is rare that I find a balance at least daily – I moved this goal to obtaining balance weekly – more successful.

    • Thank you! I hope this encourages you to continue reaching that goal. Each day is a fresh start to balance!

  2. I love that you make a point to show us everyone is different. We are and sometimes out balance is different than that of others’ directly in our lives. Thank you for bringing that into perspective. Sometimes it is easy to get caught in what other’s believe your balance should be.

  3. Making a list is very useful for me so that I don’t miss out on anything. A diary is a must for me. You’re right about balance too. Sometimes we just have to say no as we have to prioritize on what is important.

  4. Hello Shelli, I hope you are doing great.

This is a very helpful article, as proper organization definitely is one of the most valuable keys to success. It is easy for things to become unorganized, and this can help attribute to a very scattered and unproductive mindset, I have had to learn this the hard way a few times haha.

I am overdue for writing down a new/updated organization list, this was a nice reminder to do so, thanks!!

    Take care,

    Gabriel G.
